Obituary

Joyce E. Riedl, 77, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her Sedgwick residence. She was born on November 24, 1934 in Ransom to John and Ruth Moore Anderson. On July 16, 1955 she married Bernard "Bernie" Riedl in Nickerson. He survives of the home.

She was a member of Sedgwick Methodist Church. Joyce was a graduate of Nickerson High School and attended Ft. Hays State University where she earned her teaching certificate and earned a degree in elementary education. While in school at Ft. Hays, she met her future husband. In 1955 she and her new husband went to work for the Sedgwick school system. They moved to their first home in Sedgwick, where they lived for seven years. While living in that home, it flooded nine times. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends. She is survived by her husband; two sons and their wives, Kevin and Tracy, Cheney and Kyle and Sheila of Arkansas City; one sister, Joan Aden, Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Kay Lin Simmons.

Services were held at Sedgwick United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Stephens presiding. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
