Marie Stucky Baumann was born about 1860 at Rothenback, Switzerland. Mrs. Baumann came to this country from Switzerland and settled in a Swiss colony near Whitewater for a short time. After marrying, she came to Halstead with her husband and they moved southwest of Halstead, making their home there until about 20 years ago.

Seven children were born to this marriage: John F. Baumann, Altus, Oklahoma; Ernest W. Baumann of Sioux City, Iowa; Frederick L. Baumann, Valley Center; Jacob Baumann, Sedgwick; Alfred W. Baumann, Burrton; Mrs. Elmer Grimsman, Mt. Hope and Bernard H. (Sam) Baumann on the home farm southwest of Halstead.

Death came to Mrs. Baumann Tuesday morning at her home. Both she and her husband had been suffering from colds which developed into Pneumonia.

Burial was in the Halstead Mausoleum.
