Obituary

Gustav F. "Gus" Wiebe, 88, owner and operator of Wiebe Aircraft, Halstead, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Halstead Assisted Living Center. He was born June 18, 1923 at Newton to Gustav W. and Ella H. Penner Wiebe.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton; Halstead Historical Society; the Experimental Aircraft Assoc and Antique Airplanes Assoc.

On April 27, 1949, he married Rita Celeste Hensley at Newton. She died September 8, 2004.

Survivors: sons, David (Vicky) Wiebe, ElDorado; Jim (Barb) Wiebe, Valley Center; Don (Judy) Wiebe, Newton; Mark Wiebe, Halstead; daughters; Helen (Dan) Glough, Burrton; Mary (Jay D.) Eilerts, Newton; Kathy (Gerald) Casper, Hays; Carol (Barry) Saenghausen, Wichita; Brother; John (Sally) Wiebe, Derby; sister, Lois (Landvis) Ferm, Lindsborg; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy DeVore, Grandson, Michael Sanagerhausen; brother, Carl Wiebe and sister, Edna Lohr.

Rosary will be Thursday with burial in the Halstead Cemetery on June 15, 2012.
