Wilson, Allison M.

Harvey County Independent

Allison M. Wilson, 89, died July 2, 2007 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation. She was 89 years old. She was born June 7, 1918 to Glenn E. and Hazel Flemming Post in Cowles, Nebraska. She graduated from Cowles High School and attended Kearney College in Kearney, Nebraska, moved to Newton in 1837 and worked at F. W. Woolworth where she met the love of her life, Joseph Harrison Wilson. They were married in Newton on October 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2005.

Growing up in Nebraska taught her many valuable lessons in Life. She worked hard on the farm and was a good helpmate with her husband. Together, they raised a familyy of five children, and remodeled numerous houses in the Newton area.

Allison was active in the community. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Trinity Heights United Methodist Church; and Vista Golf Association. She and her husband enjoyed playing cards and dancing at the Moose and Elks Clubs. She enjoyed fishing, golfing and movies.

She is survived by her five children; Gary Wilson, LaCentre, Washington; LaJune Thrasher, Halstead; Hazel White, Rancho Cucomongo, California; Diona Loyd, Newton and William Wilson, Newton; also two siblings, Margaret Biddlecomb, California and Jim Post, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sister, Dorothy Strobl; sister, Ester Peterson; sister Mary Sader; sister, Darlene Puskarov; brother, Donald Post; father Glenn Post and Mother, Hazel Post.

Services were held July 14 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
