Obituary

Gladys L. Weesner, 89, died October 10, 2007 at Newton Medical Center. She was born October 19, 1917 at Newton, Kansas, daughter of John Gerhard and Agnetta Frey Ewert. She married Melvin R. Weesner on June 30, 1949. He died August 13, 1975.

Gladys was employed as a bookkeeper at Halstead Hospital, Legg Corp., Full Vision and Cox Law Office. She was a member of OES Chapter 5 and Rebekah Lodge, both of Newton; Halstead Hospital Auxiliary and was a Halstead Hospital Gift Shop volunteer.

Survivors: sons, William and Donald Weesner (Linda), Wichita; daughter Delores Mages, San Diegl, California; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Everett Weesner; grandson, Matt Weesner; brothers, Edward Ewert and Albert Ewert; sister, Edith Kimberlin; Edna Scott; Anna McLain; Alice Young and Ruby McAdow.

Services were held at First Methodist Church with the Rev. Jennifer Whitt on Monday. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
