Obituary

Opal E. Armfield, 97, nurse's aide at Halstead Hospital, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Schowalter Ville. Hesston, Kansas. She was born May 21, 1910 at Rayumond to Stanley and Sarah Belle Lisk Gilchrist. She married William C. Armfield on June 21, 1929 at Wichita. He died September 7, 1963.

She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, Sedgwick and a multi-gallon blood donor and member of the American Red Cross.

Survivors: son, William Armfield, Hesston; brother Wilford Gilchrist of Dallas; sisters, Idella Diller, Nash, Oklahoma and Mary Ellen Pearcy of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-mother, Esther Gilchrist; son, John "Butch" Armfield; daughter Beverly Branson; brothers, Lester, Russell, Raymond, Ralph, Marvin and Cecil Gilchrist and sister, Pearl Moore.

Services were held at the Church in Sedgwick with burial at the Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.
