Terrence Hanna, 75, passed away January 29, 2008 at Newton Presbyterian Manor. He was born May 1, 1932 in Newton to John Robert and Ida Hanna. They preceded him in death.

He attended St. Mary Catholic Elementary school and graduated from Newton High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War in London. While in London, he was honored to attend the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

After an honorable discharge from the USAF he returned to Kansas where he completed a degree in Spanish from Wichita State University. He was able to speak fluent Spanish all his life. For many years, he was a Spanish teacher in Salina.

HJe worked for the Halstead Herzler Clinic. His most recent job was at Newton Area Chamber of Commerce.

He mostly will be remembered for his love of genealogy. He did extensive and exhaustive research of his family tree long before easily accessible tools were available. His passion for genealogy culminated in a Pictoriaal family tree with photos of family members reachiing back to the 1800s.

He was a life member of the Newton Chapter of the American Legion and an active member of St. Mary's Carholic Parish.

In 1995 he traveled to Washington, D.C. for the dedication of the Korean War Memorial.

Survivors: brothers, Thomas Hanna, Newton; Robert John Hanna, Wichita; sisters, Mary Janne Bell, Houston and FloraBelle Haanna, Newton. He was preceded in death by a brother, William McAdoo and sister, Deila Ann Hanna.

Memorial contributions to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
