Mary Verna Frost, 87, died March 21, 2009 at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born March 27, 1921 in Texas County, Oklahoma to Floyd S. and Mabel Brown Frost. She was an only child. She attended School near Elkhart, moving to Halstead with her parents at 13. Her parents operated the Tea Room across the street from Halstead Hospital. She attended Halstead H igh School and helped her parents run the cafe, continuing after graduation until her parents sold it and purchased a nearby rooming h ouse.
She went on to become a 30 year employee of the Hertzler Clinic, where she was a laboratory technician. In 1968, she became a member of the Halstead United Methodist Church where she remained a member until her death.
In 2003, she moved to Kidron, Bethel, where she lived three years. In 2007 she moved to assisted living.
She is survived by her car, Boots; cousin, Burt Brown, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Services were held at Kaufman Funeral Home Chapel at Halstead with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
