Michael Fred Liby "Pop" died after his struggle with cancer on April 27, 2009. He was a retired millwright mechanic for Westar Energy. He was born September 30, 1945 at Clay County to Perry Davis and Myrtle Chayer Liby.
A Sedgwick resident for 25 years, and a U.S. Army Combat Vietnam veteran, he was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and was a past commander at American Legion Post 268 and a 40 year Lifemember, Charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 268, all of Sedgwick. He was also a member of VFW Post 7515 in Clyde and LBEW Local 1523, Wichita. He was also a 12 year member of the Sedgwick city council; founder and 22 year member of the Sedgwick Tree Board and a charter member of Public Wholesale Water District 17 goard of directors.
Survivors: sons, Jeremy and Mandy Liby; Jacob and Elessa Liby and Josh Liby, all of Sedgwick; brothers, Bobby Liby, Clifton; Jerry and Carla Liby, Carl Junction, Missouri; sisters, Phyllis Ellis, Clifton; Faye Holland, Wichita; Shirley and Leon Roten, Wichita; Joan and Gary Rundel, Ottawa; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Rex and Lyle Liby and sister, Peggy Noise.
Services were held May 2 at the church. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery.
