Raylene Woolsey, 78, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at her Newton residence. She was born November 30,1930 in Carrolton, Missouri, daughter of Ray and Jennie Helene Kendrick. On September 30,1951 she married Carlton G. Woolsen in Missouri and he preceded her in death.
She attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. She retired as an administrative assistant at the Newton High School. She also worked as a house parent at Youthville for a time. She and her family were founding members of Trinity Heights Church where she has remained active in the church choir, Wesley Workers Sunday School class, Bible study group, and Elizabeth Circle, among her many other church activities.
She was a member of PEI, MEO, Round Table, Bridge Club and Jaycee Jaynes among many other organizations where she participated.
She ejoyed playing bridge, reading and listening to music. She also enjoyed theatre, shopping and travel. She was an avid Jayhawi football and basketball fan. She will be remembered for her generosity and love of people. She never knew a stranger. Family was very important to her and she stayed in contact and looked forward to visits from them.
Survivors: son, Thomas and wife, Cheri Woolsey, Lawrence; three daughters, Cheryl and David Slack, Lawrence, Susan and Doug Huebert, Halstead and Jennie and husband Dwayne Dyck of Andoiver. She has 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant sister and her husband.
Memorial services were held December 4 at the Church. Private family inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
