Swindler, Lloyd H.

Harvey County Independent

Rev. Lloyd H. Swindler, 84, died June 24, 2112 at the Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita from injuries he received in a recent fall and also renal failure.  He was the  brother of Charles Swindler of Sedgwick.

 

Rev. Swindler was born March 3, 1928 at New Albany, to Gerald Wayne Swindler and Emma Opal Schafer.  He was a United Methodist minister serving many churches throughout Kansas.  He retired from his last full-time appointment in 1994 and continued serving part time until 2003.

 

He served in the  Army Air Corp and then the Army as a Corporal for several years, including tours in the Phillipines and Germany.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club and Kiwanis Club.

 

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; children, Linda Seibert  and husband Laurel of Great Bent; Susan Varble and husband Larry of Dallas; Patricia Schwarz and husband Mike of  Wichita; Dale Swindler and wife Karmel of Salina; Phillip Swindler and wife Jeannette of Leon and Jeri Tellez of The Colony, Texas, one brother, Charles and wife, Verla of Sedgwick; one sister-in-law, Venice Swindler, Wichita; one step sister, Valeta Giesbrecht of Katy, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

 

Memorial services were  held Friday at the  Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 1600 Rush  St., Salina with Rev. Greg Lindeberger and Rev. Michael Gardner officiating.  Graveside services were Saturday, June 30 at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas with Military Honors provided by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
