Amanda M. Voran, 95, died on Saturday (July 16, 2011) at the Schowalter Villa.
She was born on June 27, 1916, to Abraham L. and Amelia A. Auernheimer Bartel in Harvey County. She was a homemaker, a life-long area resident and a member of Garden Community Church. She married Willie Voran on Nov. 1, 1936, in rural Moundridge. He died on Sept. 14, 2004.
Survivors include a son, Richard (Kathy) Voran of Palmer, Alaska; daughters, Joyce (Ed) Dalke and Carolyn (Howard) Wohlgemuth, all of Hesston, and Betty (Al) Smucker of Okemos, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Willie; brothers, Leonard and Luke Bartel; grandson, Shaylan Voran; and great-grandson, Noah Wohlgemuth.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moundridge Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Garden Community Church in rural Moundridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Garden Community Church Missions, in care of the funeral home.
