Homer Venso, 87, passed away Tuesday July 13, 2011.
Homer was born Dec.24, 1923 in Newton, Kansas to John Jay and Bertha Mona (Philips) Venso. After his father died in 1937, his family lived with his grandmother, Alice, in Marion.
He served in 138th Army Air Communications Squadron during WWII. After returning from the war,he married Margaret Louise Smythe on May 3, 1947. They moved to Texas in 1948, where he worked for WPAP/KXAS-TV, retiring after 40 years. They were members of Meadowbrook United Methodist for more than 50 years.
Survivors are two sons, Nolan (Elichia) of Salisbury, MD and Gene of Fort Worth, TX; one daughter, Norma of Galeveston,TX.; and one grandchild, Toni. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, his parents, one sister, Mary Alice and one brother, Neil.
Memorial services for Homer and Louise will be held 10am Saturday, July 30 at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.
