Obituary

Funeral services were held in the Halstead Methodist church Wednesday afternoon for W. C. Steele of Newton, who died iin the Bethel Deaconess hospital Monday morning following an illness of about a week with a heart ailment.

Mr. Steele was 85 years of age.  He was born at Belleville, Illinois and is survived by the followiing children; Ed Steele of Wichita; Mrs. Charles Huffman and Mrs. Abe Unruh, Halstead; Mrs. Roy Pierce of South Creek,  South Dakota and Mrs. Bob Sumpter of Sedgwick.  Twenty-four grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren also survive as well as two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Crew of Kansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Ed Alexander of Strausberg, ,ZMissouri.  His wife passed away 42 years ago.

Rev. Logan Martin preached the funeral sermon.  Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
