Gerhard Barkemeyer

Gerhard Barkemeyer, an aged esteemed resident of Sedgwick, died at his home in this city last Monday evening June 21, 1909.

He had been in poor health for a long time, but within the past few weeks the decline was rapid.  For nearly a quarter century, Mr. Barkemeyer has been identified with the business interests of the community where the industry, frutality and rugged honesty have won the respect of all.  He was a man of retiring disposition, his ambition being centered in his home life and family.  From a humble beginning he prospered control of the grain business of the town at the time of this death.

Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Ks.
