Peter Krehbiel was born September 8, 1853 in Bavaria, Germany and passed away near Halstead on August 4, 1909. He was married to Johauna Pletcher in 1876 and shortly after came to Kansas and located on the farm three miles west of Halstead.
His wife died in 1884, leaving four children as a result of the union. In 1886 he was again married to Magdalena Galle by whom one son, David, was born. She died in 1891.
The deceased was raised in the Mennonite faith and continued as a member of that church until 18915, when he joined the German Methodist of which he had since been a member.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; the Modern Woodmen and the United Workmen, all of which organizations were represented at the funeral which was held from the home of his son-in-law, Alfred Seiler, on August 5. He leaves five children and nine grandchildren besides a brotheer in Germany. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
