Geesje Goodwin died Sunday, September 23, 2012 after a long illness. She was born February 23, 1949 to Hendrick (Henry) and Antje (Annie) Bouma Pyl, in Grouw, Friesland, Netherlands. Annie preceded her in death in July 2002. The family immigrated to Newton in January 1960. She married Terry (Terry) Jack Goodwin on October 7, 1966. He preceded her in death in August 2000. Geesje was very proud of becoming a United States citizen on September 28, 1978.
She had many hobbies, she adored flower gardening with many a stranger often stopping to praise her handiwork. She loved bingo, crafted beautiful works of painted glas. She became a very avid reader with a book always in hand.
She is survived by her father, Henry Pyl of Hesston; sons, Terry Dean Goodwin (Heather) from Twin Lakes, Wisconsin and Jeffrey Brian Goodwin and Valerie Romero; brother, Jelke Pyl (Cindy) of Newton; sister, Alie Gadd of Newton; 4 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be September 28, 2012 at Hesston United Methodist Church of Hesston. Private inurnment will be conducted.
