Shirley Jean Holmes Sadowski died September 10, 2012 at her home at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. She was born February 16, 1930 in Hutchinson, daughter of Gerald S. and Coyla I. Stuckey Holmes. Shirley graduated from Newton High School in 1948.
She married Richard E. Sadowski on May 23, 1948 at First United Methodist Church in Newton. For several years, Shirley had worked at Regier Title and later for the City Water Department. Shirley and Richard moved to Independence where they lived for 10 years before returning to Newton.
Survivors: husband, Richard, of the home; sons, Larry Sadowski and wife, Anita and Michael Sadowski and wife, Julie; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald E. Holmes.
Memorial services will be at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton September 25. There will be no visitation or viewing as her body has been donated to the KU Medical Center for research.
