Jacob "Paul" Rutschman, 96, died Tuesday November 13, 2012 at Newton Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1916 in Whitewater to Albert and Bertha Meisterhanz Rutschman. He married Martha "Marty" Smith on June 1 1, 1950. She survives of the home.
Paul served his country during World War II as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corp, where he worked on transport planes. He worked at Holstine's Chevrolet in Newton for 36 years prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed horseshoes, golf, bowling and fishing. He took pride in his lawn and vegetable garden.
Survivors: wife, Marty of the home; daughters, Judi,, her husband, Ron Arnold, Lakewood California; Patty and husband, Randy Wedel of Overland Park, Kansas and Nancy and her husband, Don Glenn of Wichita; son, Lyle Rutschman of Newton; son-in-law, Rodney Reynolds of Long Beach, California; sister, Beryl Laswell of Newton; 6 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jolene Reynolds; and sisters, Margaret Gronau and Alberta Covalt.
Services will be Friday, November 16 at First Baptist Church in Newton. Graveside committal service with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
