Nathan W. Crum was born August 1, 1863 in Noble county, Ohio. He came to Kansas in 1877. He was married to Amanda Jane Lanning on August 24, 1889. To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy. Those who are left to mourn his death are his wife, a son, Earl Z. Crum of Burley, Idaho; three daughters, Mrs. Fay Schaplowsky of Rose Lake, Idaho; Mrs. Mae Lewis, Sedgwick and Miss Florence at Home; also a sister, Mrs. Malinda Thomson, Elkhart, Kansas.
Mr. Crum was a man who had always been an energetic, hard working man. He broke in health over three years ago and had been failing fast for seven weeks. He had been a very patient sufferer, never complaining of his condition.
He had been a member of the Christian church over 40 years, holding his membership in the local church at the time of his death. He always enjoyed his church work and was a regular attendant as long as his health permitted.
He was an early settler in this vicinity, coming here in 1877. He was a Good Christian man, steady, upright, a man of few words and one who demanded the respect of all who knew him. He hd been ill for the past couple of years, following a parlytic stroke and for the past several weeks had been bed fast.
He departed this life September 7, 1927, aged 64 years, 1 month, 6 days. His remains were laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at Sedgwick following the funeral service held at the Christian Church and conducted by Rev. Leonard, pastor.
