Walter P. Martens, 93, of Westminster, Colo., died Saturday (Nov. 24, 2012) at Covenant Village of Colorado Care Center.
He was born to the late Gus and Mary Martens, April 5, 1919, in Inman, KS. Walter graduated from Inman High School in 1937. He married the late Kathryn Ensz in 1941. Walter farmed near Halstead, KS, before relocating to Colorado in 1969. Walter was an active member of Halstead Mennonite Church in Kansas and Arvada Mennonite in Colorado.
Walter is survived by three children: Larry Martens, Littleton, CO, Ron Martens, Vancouver, Canada, and Carolyn Grant, Castle Pines, CO; also two sisters: Alma Thiesen, Hutchinson, KS, and Lois Dewhurst, Arvada, CO; also six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by three brothers: Edwin Martens, Victor Martens, and Melvin Martens.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Covenant Village of Colorado Benevolence Fund, Westminster, CO.A memorial service will be held at Smith Fellowship Hall, Covenant Village, Westminster, CO, on Saturday, 12/1/12, at 10 a.m.
