Joe M. Trego, 87, retired rural mail carrier died Monday, December 3, 2012 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation in Halstead. He was born December 23, 1924 at Halstead to Harry S. and Eva Mary Reaves Trego. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Halstead. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army and was wounded twice.
He was a member of Ruth Wilson American Post 231, Halstead; VFW Post 971, Newton; Halstead Historical Society; Halstead Assoc. Board; Halstead Gun Club, Lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited; the NRA and served on the selective service board.
On April 22, 1951, he married Joanne Marr at Halstead. She died December 25, 2007.
Survivors: sons; Joseph Trego, Halstead; Jeff Trego, Roxbury; daughter, Jan (Randy) Smith, Halstead; sisters; Evelyn Brandenberger, Alta Loma, California; Elizabeth Barrett, Federal Way, Washington; four grandchildren and six great grand children. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sisters, Margaret Waltz and Mary Belle Denno.
Services were December 7 at the Presbyterian Church in Halstead with burial in the Halstead Cemetery.
