Obituary

   Amos Wilson, one of the early settlers in Sedgwick, died at 8 o'clock last Sunday morning and funeral services conducted by Rev. C. D. Whitwam were held at the house Tuesday afternoon of this week.  He was born in Vandalia, Illinois on April 15, 1836 at Chandlerville, Illinois to Miss Carol Englis, who still survives.  To this union were born two children, Ambrose, Born September 8, 1858 and Ira born August 29. 1866.  The elder of the two died two years ago and Ira who was present at his father's funeral is now living at Galveston, Texas.

   During the war, Mr. Wilson served his country as a member of the 71st Illinois Volunteers, and at his death he was a member of the GAR.  He moved to Sedgwick with his wife and two boys in 1876 and he has lived here continuously from that time till the day of his death.  He was widely known and respected by all as an upright honorable citizen who believed in the right and always stood for it.  He loved his home and was a good father and a kind and loving husband.  For two years his health had been poor but only recently was it realized that it was a sickness unto death.  His wife and son have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community and we pray that God, the Father, may give unto them the peace of God which passeth all understanding.
