LaVier Lee McMannis, 86, died Jan. 22, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Ripley, Okla., the son of Jefferson LaVier and Ione Lee Nabors McMannis.
Moving to Burrton, Kan., at the age of 6, LaVier graduated from Burrton High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII in European Occupied Germany. He worked 25 years for S&K Oil Company, before retiring from Consolidated Manufacturing after 18 years in 1991.
On Aug. 2, 1973, he married Joyce Ann Redinger in Maize, Kan. She survives. Other survivors include: three children, Cindy Mastro and husband Bob of Hutchinson, Randy McMannis and wife Annie of South Hutchinson, and Judy Egli and husband Kurt of Yoder; stepchildren, Stephen Roseberry and wife Lisa of Splendora, Texas, Joe Roseberry and wife Patricia of Hutchinson, Alan Durham and companion Bert of Hutchinson, and Mark Durham and companion Sue of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 17 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson, Murray Roseberry; siblings, Charles Elman McMannis, Donald Eugene McMannis, and Marlene Roberts, and his parents.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park with Military Honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
