   Evelyn Ruth Janzen Brunner died January 4, 2013 at  her home in Emporia at the age of 89.  She was the daughter of Henry P. and Susie Reimer Janzen and was born April 15, 1923 in Newton.  On October 17, 1946 she married Ralph H. Brunner, they were married 63 years.  Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Anita Brunner; daughter, Pamela Brunner; grandson, Shane Brunner.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, John and Willard Janzen and two sisters, Ella Remer and Dora Wolf.

  She loved camping and fishing and was an accomplished seamstress.  She enjoyed art, painting, crocheting, gardening and a variety of other craafts.  During World War II, she was the assistant postmaster in North Newton.  She also worked in the yard goods/notions section of the Woolworths store in Newton until she moved to California to marry Ralph.

   She was a member of the Westside Vaptist Church, its choir and the Senior Soldiers class.

   Services were held at the church in Emporia and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
