Pummill, Velma Alma Foster

Harvey County Independent

   Velma Alma Foster Pummill, 99, of Newton, died Saturday April 28, 2012 in Wichita at Harry Nynes Hospice.  She was born June 24, 1912 in rural Butler County to Charles E. and Almie Healy Foster.  She married L.  Glenn Pummill on June 24, 1933 in Wichita in a double weddiing ceremony with her twin sister, Zelma (Eldo) Bergen.

   She was a member of the First Christian Church of Newton.  She also belonged to Golden Circle, Newton Nomads and Sunchasers Camping Clubs; Entre Naus; So and Sew Club; NARVE and the Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Union.  During World War II, she served as a Harvey Girl at the Harvey House in Newton.

   Survivors: daughters, Glenna MdGinn of Halstead; Karen (Bill) Hickerson, Newton; and Linda (Tom) Johnson of Castle Rock, Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 greaat-great grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen on September 29, 1994; brothers, Lloyd and Lee Foster; sisters, Vaneta Locke; Zaida Huston and twin sister Zelma Bergen.  She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Don McGinn.

   Services will be held at the Church in Newton with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating.  Interment will follow at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton.  Memorials to the Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Wichita.
