Phyllis A. White, 87, of Newton, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Asburn Park in Newton. She was born on February 14, 1925 in Minneapolis, daughter of George and Glaldys Trickle Whitee. She was raised in Minneapolis, moving to Newton when she was 18 years old.
She worked two jobs many times to care for her family. She worked at the Ripley Hotel and Russel's Cafe and The Coffee Pot for more than 50 years. She is best known for her apple dumplings.
Survivors: son, Glenn White, Newton; daughter, Beverly Evans, Canton; brother, Donald White, Missouri; one grndson; 3 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be February 9, 2013 at the VFW Post in Newton.
