James Mason was born in Wichita on October 10, 1926. He graduated from high school and in December, 1944
left for military service in convoy duty in the South Pacific. He returned and in 1950 he married Margaret
Hetzke of Hesston, Kansas. Shortly thereafter he was called back to active service with the US army in
Germany. After his return in 1954 his son Roger was born. James had a long career in the aerospace
industry which started at Boeing in Wichita. He built his first home in Hesston in 1957. He eventually
moved to the west coast and lived in Chula Vista, California. His favorite place was his mouontain
cabin near Taos, New Mexico where he retired.
He is survived by his second wife Nadine Davis Mason; his son, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grand-
chidren and sister, Peggy Stevens. Graveside services will be March 15th at Hesston City Cemetery.
