Kevin L. Hoffer, 61, passed away March 24, 2013 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. He was born June 27, 1951 in Newton, son of Leonard and Lois Adams Hoffer. After graduation he proudy served his country with the United States Navy, serving on the USS Francis Hammond during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a licensed electrician working more than 30 years with the IBEW #271 Union of Wichita, later working for Hostess of Emporia until it closed.
On January 1, 1976 he was united in marriage to Vicki Helfer and they were blessed with a daughter, Shannon. In the mid 80's they would make their home at the Marion County Lake. Kevin was a member and current Commander of the American Legion Post #22, very active in the Patriot Guard and had worked as the football announder for 15 years with WBVN. His family, friends and veterans were very important to him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Vicki of Marion; daughter, Shannon Hoffer of New Haven, Conn; brothers, Bruce (Carol) of Newton and Gary (Katherine) of Alameda, California/
Services were held Friday, March 29 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. Interment with military rites were at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
