Claude C. Covert Among the Missing.
Claude C. Covert, who has been proprietor of the cigar stand formerly owned by C. A. Vance the past three months, has left for parts unknown and the store today is under the management of Jared Cone, who was with Mr. Vance during his several years proprietorship.
It is said that several of the local banks are caught for small sums as the result of Mr. Covert's disappearance, though the exact amount can not be learned. Yesterday, the story goes, when, the monthly bills became payable, Mr. Covert was unable to meet them with the money and rather than face the music, departed from the city.
