Roy Eugene Koehn, 86, departed this life June 9, 2013 at Asbury Park in Newton. He was the son of Fred and Susie Koehn and was born January 24, 1927 in Halstead Township, Harvey County. He was a member of the East Side United Methodist Church where he married Dorothy Phillips on December 30,1967. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in December.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Koehn; four sisters, Lavina Ediger; Erma Unruh; Laura Becker; Lidia Decker; and one brother, Don Koehn.
Survivors: wife of the home; daughter-in-law, Diana Koehn of Denver, Colorado; 2 grandchildren and sister, Elda Jantz of North Newton.
During World War II he was drafted into the U.S.. Army, where he served his country proudly and received an honorable Discharge. He retired from the maintenance department at Friendly Acres (Asbury Park).
After retirement he enjoyed his workshop. He was an acomplished mechanic and even guilt two garden gractors and the equipment for each. He spent many years plowing and rototiling other people's gardens. His hobbies were vegetable gardening, tinkering in his workshop and traveling. He enjoyed gospel music and singathons. He was an active member of East Side United Methodist Church.
Funeral service was Friday, June 14 at the Church. Graveside committal service will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
