Hugh Dale O'Dell, 87, passed away December 8, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He previously resided in Wichita. He was born in Halstad on June 11, 1925 to Geroge and Mary O'Dell. He graduated from Halstead High School in 1942.
He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Margaret Talbott who preceded him in death by one year. Dale served in the United States Navy during the end of WWII. He worked for Derby Oil Refineery in Wichita and oil refineries in Puerto Rico, Algeria, Indonesia, North Dakota, Sri Lanka and Texas. Dale and Margaret enjoyed a good life together for 67 years.
Dale is survived by four children; Larry O'Dell (Cindy) of Richland, Washington; Vickie Stefffey (Frank) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Gregory O'Dell (Janet) of Deer Park, Texas; and Kelly Cortes (Jorge) of Parkville, Missosuri. He is survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 grreat grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service Friday, June 8 at 4:30 at the Halstead Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion in Halstead following the graveside service.
