Bernard C. Gatz, 85, owner of Gatz Realty died May 1 6, 2013 at Newton Medical Center. He was born October 25, 1927 at Newton to William H. and Lucy M. Bixby Gatz.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Caatholic Church; Knights of Columbus; Halstead Historical Society; Halstead Senior Citizens, Newton; Area Board of Realtors; Kansas Auctioneers Association and was a former 4-H leader.
On March 30, 1948 he married Mary Alice Kerschen at Aleppo; she preceded him in death July 1, 2004.
Survivors: son: Ron Gatz, Joplin, Missouri; daughters, Kathryn (John) Grupp, Grand Prairie, Texas; Susan (Karl) Lukert, Delia; Marcia (Don) Jellison, Skiatook, Oklahoma; sisters, Marreta Lies, Kansas City; Teresea (Ric) Sawyer, Cypress, Texas; Margaret Unruh, Andover; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas and brothers, Willian and Vincent Gatz.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be March 23 with Father Edmond Kline officiating. Burial aat Halstead Cemetery.
