Gene Paul Ropp passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 in Kimberling City, Missouri. He was living at the Table Rock Healthcare Center in Kimberling, Missouri. He was born in Halstead October 5, 1937 to Elmer Jr. and Agnes Block Ropp. He grew up on the family farm three miles south and one east of Halstead. He attended schools in Halstead where he lettered in fooball and basketball in High School. After high school, Gene successfuully completed an electronics school in Wichita.
He had a career with the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) long line. Starting out at Dodge City, he became a supervisorr of a cable route in Russell and finished his career in the Kansas City Regional Office, overseeing fibere optics installations.
He married his high school sweetheat, Donna Judith Partridge on August 2, 1958. They had five children, Pamela, Annette, Cherol Lynn, Brian Paul, Joan Marie and Neal "Wayne.
He partricipated in 49 two-week mission trips to Central and South America building churches, schools and living quarters, He was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Halstead, Russell and Kansas City. During his time at Table Rock Lake,, he was a member of Ozark Mountain Assembly of God Church in Kimberling City.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, both his parents; infant brother, Allan Dale; sisters, Margaret Ramsey and Glennis Neufeld-Lentz; his infant son, Brian; an infant grandson, Timothy Mermis ; his oldest daughter, Pamels Mermis and a grandson, Brian Mermis.
Survivors: Cherol Lynn and husband, Dan Dempsen, Reeds Springs, Missouri; Joan and Husband Ricky Allen, House Springs, Mirrouri; Neal Ropp and wife Paula of Watertown, Tenn; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Other survivors: brothers, Georege Ropp, San Maracos, Texas; Bill Ropp, Hutchinson and sister, Arlene Amis, Wichita.
Services were held June 25 in Stumpff Funeral Home-South, Kimbereling City, Missouri. Interment was held June 26, 2013 in Halstead Cemetery.
