Ludinca Marguerite "Peg" Stoffer was born January 23, 1924 to Homer and Hattie Mae Stanton in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated with a degree in psycholoogy from University of North Carolina. Pet was an airline hostess for TWA in Kansas City where she met her sweetheart, Robert Stoffer, a medical student at the University of Kansas. The two were married in Bethesda, Maryland in June 1948. Peg passed away March 25, 2013.
Peg was an avid golfer, achieving a hole in one. She was a devoted housewife, raising her two children, Tom and Cindy in Halstead, while Bob practiced medicine there at the Hertzler Clinic. When she became an empty nester, she went back to school and earned a masters degree in library science at Emporia State University.
She used the degree as a volunteer, assisting with cataloging the public library in Halstead. Pet also enjoyed water sports and was known for water skiing in her sunglasses and hat without getting her hair wet. She was also an excellent cook.
Pet is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Stoffer, now living in Topeka; her son, Tom Stoffer of Phoenix, Arizona and daughter, Cindy Patton and husband, Joe Patton, Topeka, as well as her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Peg was preceded in death by her sister, Harriett Lunsford.
Her cremains will be buried at the Halstead Cemetery after a gravesite service on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
