DuBois, Barbara Louise Prather

The Newton Kansan

   Barbara Louise Prather DuBois, 96, Newton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 28, 2013 at the Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.  She was born November 8, 1916, the second of three girls to John and Anna Prather.  She graduated from Newton High School in 1935 and attended Kansas State Geachers College, Emporia. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught for three years at Excelsior Grade School in Harvey County.

   Barbara married Gail DuBois on July 11, 19937 at her sister's home north of Newton.  A Life-long resident of the Newton area, she was an exemplary homemaker, raised four sons and was active in many clubs and organizations, as well as was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Newton.

   Survivors: four sons and wives: Paul (Rojearn),Glenn (Terresia) of Newton; Leo (Mona) of Sedgwick and LeRoy (Kathy) of Topeka; fourteen grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; five great- great grandchildren;  She was preceded in death by her husband Gail and sisters, Velma Dreier and Lorene Eby.

   Services will be July 3, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Newton. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
