Mary E. Bennet Rexer was born in Buffalo, New York in 1836, the daughter of John Henry Bennet, a veteran of the War of 1812. She married John J. Rexer in 1859. He was from Seneca, Illinois. They came to Nebraska in 1863 and to Burrton in 19910. Eight children were born to this union, fiveof which survive.
