Obituary

   C.. J. Gram was born in Iowa March 13, 1848 and passed away December 3, 1917.  He married Miss Louisa Stevens a native of Illinois May 11, 1876.  They had one son, Milton.

   He was educated for the mercantile busiiness.  In 1869 he moved to Missouri and engaged iin selling goods and came from there to Kansas in 1879.  He located here in Halstead and engaged in the drug business.  In May 1882 he was forced to sell his business as a sacrifice on account of Malicious prosecution and organized his present business in July of last years.  His capaital is limited but his business is good and constantly growing.

   He was a member of the I.O.O.F.
