Bart Schoenecker, 88, retired maintenance electrician for Excel Packing and Hormel Goods, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Diversacare of Sedgwick
He was born December 10, 1924 at Nashua, Minn. to Barthel and Angela Mertes Schoenecker. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead and was a resident of Sedgwick since 1948. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a participant in the invasions of the Phillipines, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.
He was a skilled auto restorer, hhis favorite restoration being a bright yellow 1930 Ford Cabriolet which he often drove in local parades.
He married Betty Crandall at Colwich on December 30, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2009.
Survivors: son, Eric (Karen Priice); grandson, Paul (Lindsey) Schoenecker, Charleston, S.C.; granddaughter, Kristen (Jacob) George,, Pratt, 2 stepdaughters; grandchildren Ben and Julia George and Abel Schoenecker; brother, Vince (Barbara) Schoenecker, Pearland, Texas; sisters, Vera Johnson, Sedgwick; Irene Rausch, Central Point, Oregon; Marie Marrow, Grove, Oiklahoma; Margie Fields, Pearland, Texas; Leona (Gene) Vierethaler, Haven and sister-in-law Mozetta Schoenecker, Wichita. He was receded in death by a daughter, Lou Ann Corcoran; brothers, Elmer and Edmond Schoenecker and sisters, Helen Doffing and Marcella Wilson.
Mass of the Christian Burial was July 20 at the Church with burial iin Hillside Cemetery.
