Carl E. Haetten, 76, retired Halstead Elementary and Middle School principal, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born January 8, 1937 at Montclair, New Jersey to Carl and Fay Robinson Haetten. He was a Halstead resident since 1972 when he became pricipal at HalsteadElementary and retired from Halstead Middle School following the 1996 School year. After retirement he was a van driver for Halstead Hospital and HertzlerClinic.
He was an accomplished golfer and bowler and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Halstead. He also was a member of Halstead Lions Club and seved for 20 years on the Board of the Kansas Learniing Center for Health and was a charter member of the Wedgewood Golf Course board of directors.
On August 14, 1960 he married Betty Ann Rogers at Ree Heights, South Dakota. She survives.
Other survivors: sons, Vincent (Shelly) Haetten, Halstead; Todd (Michelle) Haetten, Halstead; daughters, Robin (Brian) Harms, Edmond, Oklahoma; Tamara (Tom) Zillig, Overland Park; seven grandchildren; Joey and Brecklyn Haetten, Allison Stroud, Katie and Sammi Jett, Korynn and Kaleigh Haetten and one great grandchild, Addison Haetten.
Services will be Strurday August 17 at the Methodist Church i Halstead. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery..
