Dale K. Garver, 75, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at his Newton residence. He was born March 29, 1938 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Arthur L. and Thelma Stookey Garver. He graduated from Herington High School in 1956. On July 14, 1959 he married Janice J. Jones in Woodbine, Kansas. She survives. He served his country in the Army Reserves. He attended Kansas State University and was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad where he worked as a conductor.
He enjoyed listening to Jazz music, the saxophone being his favorite instrument. He also enjoyed sports and playing golf. He was a member of the Halstead Wedgewood Golf Course and played in a Thursday Senior Golf League at the Course. He liked being a grandpa especially his grreat grandchidren.
Survivors: Wife of the home; sons Greg (Leisha) Garver, of Newton; Troy (Jill) Garver, Newton and Ty (Amy) Garver of Basehor, Kansas; one sister, Shelia Kern-Schmidt of Newton; 9 grandchildren and 6 reat grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nancy Garver of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his sparents and brother, Byron L. Garver.
Funeral service will be August 24 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
