Ronald Dean Morrison, 70, retired Butler County Under Sheriff passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was born in Oklahoma City to Jess and Maudell Hedrick Morrison. He was raised in Newton, where he attended school and graduated in 1961 from Newton High School. He married Nancy Jeffries on June 3, 1961.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He then joined the Tucson Arizona Police Dept. on July 1, 1965 and served there until June 1, 1971.
On August 23, 1967 he married Beverly Lewis in Tucson, Arizona. He was in private business from 1971 to Julyy 1977, at which time he joined the Butler County Sheriff's Department where he served for 17 years of his career, serving as Under Sheriff. He was in private business until retirement in 2004.
He married Johnnie K. Nunns on May 11, 1991.
Ron is preceded in death by his son, Darrin; his parents, Jess and Maudell; brothers, Ike, Gene and Rick and sisters, Delia and Frances.
Survivors: wife Johnnie: sons, Cjhris (Kelli) Morrison and Kirk (Rhonda), Trudi (David) Cook; step-children, Jeff Nunns, Lisa Nunns and Lori Nunns Michels; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Services will be August 26 at Salem Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
