Julian Garcia, 75, of Newton, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Newton Medical Center. He was born in Newton on Janauary 9, 1938, son of Nicolas and Guadalupe Garcia. He attended local schools graduating from Newton High School. He married Elesa Simons in 1956 in Newhall, California.
Julian worked for Kinder Congoleum for more than 30 years, where he was a plant supervisor. He was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching his grandkids, working in his shop, gardening, traveling and building.
Survivors: wife, Elesa of the home; children, Vince (Karen) Garcia, Newton; Mike (Tina) Garcia; Marcy (Bill) Myers, Hutchinson; Kathy (Matt) Archer, Newton; Christy (Mark) Thomas of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters, Mary Garcia; Betty Atkinson; and Carole Martinez, all of Newton; 11 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marcelo and Jimmy.
Services were held Tuesday, July 9 at the St. Mary's Church. Interment were in St. Mary's Cemetery.
