Obituary

Charles Elman McMannis, 76, Canton, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005. Mr. McMannis was born April 2, 1929, in Skiatook, Okla and moved with his parents to Burrton Kansas in 1933. He graduated from Burrton High School. He married Melba Jean Stewart of Burrton. He worked in the oil fields in Burrton, Haven, Canton, & Russell, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle McMannis. Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Canton; two sons, David K. and Jeffery D. of Canton; two daughters, Jeanne Decker and Cathy Vogts of Canton; two brothers, LaVier of Hutchinson and Donald of Burrton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Canton Christian Church. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas or the church, in care of Olson's Mortuary, 139 N. Main, Box 355, Canton 67428 Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. August 9 at the funeral home.
