Burrton Graphic

Arthur W. Daily drowned at St. Joseph Missouri when attacked by cramps while bathing in Lake Contrary.  His parents, Judge and Mrs. Daily were at Sunday School in Burrton when the telegram came.  He was a traveling salesman for Swift and Company.  The people of this vicinity have long entertained a warmhearted feeling for him becausee of his genial disposition and sunny attributes.  The funeral party arrived from St. Joe and services were conducted from the Christian Church.  The stores and business houses were closed in the afternoon.

The Harvey County Bar association attended as a body.

He was born in Burrton October 1889.  Survivors: parents, brother, B. W. Daily of Wellsville; sister, Mrs. W. L. Dillman of Kingman.

The Kansas City Journal reported that Daily was with two women and a man in a row boat when Daily took off part of his clothing and leaped overboard to swim.  After he was stricken with cramps the other man jumped in to rescue him, but Daily grasped him about the neck and dragged the rescuer under.  When Daily let loose, he sunk.
