   Garry  Wayne Irby "G. W." passed away at his residence Monday, September 23, 2013.  He was a retired as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Resereves.  He was a self-employed "Handyman" and could rebuild or fix almost anything.  He

was born February 14, 1942 in Springfield, Green Co., Missouri to Waldo and Taney Bass Irby.  He married Sandy Lynn Bishop on September 10, 1988 in Reno, Nevada.  She survives in the home.

   Other survivors: sons, Sean Abbott, Newton; Cory "Spence" Abbott of Peabody; two daughter, Terry and Darel Davis of Bad Hamburg, Germany; Meredith and Murran Anderson of Newton; two brothers, Jerry Irby of Strafford, Missouri and Ted Volen of Hoyt; two sisters, Carol Van Zandt of Springfield, Missouri and Lola Shuman of Newton; 8 grandchildren  He enjoyed and deeply cared for his grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents.

   A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, Septembe 27 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.  A memorial has been sete up for Progressive Hospice.
