Harold G. Klassen, 82, passed away September 17.. 2013 aat Schowalter Villa, Hesston, Kansas. He was born May 7, 1931 at Goessel, son of Gustav and Martha Nickel Klassen. He was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church. He had worked as a fabrication operator aat AGCO for 42 yeara. After retiring, he enjoyed leading tours at AGCO. He volunteered at MCC and the Newton EtCetera Shop.
He is remembered as a gentle man with a quick smile and a ready sense of humor. He had many friends in the Hesston area, with whom he joyfully shared many lighthearted momemts. He was also a patient and generous father and grandfather, sharing his time teachiing and playing with his childreen and grandchildren. He is also remembered for his sacrifices, which supported his children's mucical and schooling activities.
On May 7, 1965 he married Joanne Elizabeth Nikkel at Goessel. She survives. Other survivors: sons, Thomas (Carolyn) of Salta Lake City, Utah; Bryce of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Matt and Kate; and one sister, Alice Jantz of Goessel. He was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Wiens and two brothers, Leroy and Dwane.
A memorial service will be Saturday September 21 at Hesston Mennonite Church. Graveside service will be September 21 at Eastlawn Cemetery, rural Hesston.
