S. Milford Roupp

July 3, 1925-Jan. 7, 2008 

S. Milford Roupp, 82, 517 S. Fifth St., Goshen, died Monday at 6:57 p.m. at the home of his daughter, where he had lived since October 2006. He previously lived two years at 1300 Greencroft Drive. He had been ill and in hospice care since June 2007.

He was born July 3, 1925, in Newton, Kan., to John and Lillie (Balmer) Roupp. He lived most of his life in Hesston, Kan., coming to Goshen in September 2004.
Mr. Roupp was a graduate of Hesston Academy and Hesston College, and attended Bethel College, Newton, Kan., and Boulder University in Colorado.
Mr. Roupp did Civilian Public Service work in Marlboro, N.J. and Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a charter member of Mennonite Disaster Service and a supporter and pillar of the Mennonite Church and its outreach. He was a member of the Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kan.
A longtime supporter of Hesston College, he traveled extensively worldwide and in all 50 states of the U.S. He was an advocate and benefactor to many who started their own businesses and sponsored many immigrant families. 
He was a businessman and entrepreneur who co-owned Hesston Concrete with his brother, Willard, for 40 years.
He married Roselena Ruth Willems, Aug. 8, 1948, in Greensburg, Kan. She died June 15, 2005.
Surviving are four daughters, Valerie Helser, Denver, Colo., Sherry (Mark) Jordan, Goshen, Janelle (Steve) Diller, Colorado Springs, Colo., Patrice Dunbar, Kelowna, B.C.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth M. (Paul) Yutzy, Hutchinson, Kan., Elda L.  (Adolf Guhr), Newton, Kan.; brother, Delbert B. (Joann) Roupp, Lakewood, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Elda G. Roupp, Hesston, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother, Willard Roupp.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston Kan.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen; and at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kan. Mark Jordan, her son-in-law, and Nathaniel Jordan, grandson, will officiate both services. 
Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston, Kan.
