From Sumner Township. On Thursday, Feb. 7, 1895 at 2:15 o'clock p.m., Tina, the 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Day of Mt. Hope, after an illness of almost 6 weeks duration.
She bore her affliction with fortitude and gentle endurance that is seldom seen even in older persons under like circumstances. Through all the long weary days and nights of almost constant and sometimes intense suffering she remained patient, kind, and thoughtful to those around her, which endeared her to the hearts of many and will make her loss felt the more keen.
All was done that faithful hands could do, and at times hopes for her recovery was entertained, but as it seemed a combination of diseases to contend with the constitution finally gave way. She was conscious almost till the last moment, and passed away without a struggle, so quietly and calmly was the change made that the watchers could scarcely tell just when the death angel had completed its mission. The remains were taken to Burrton for burial, and laid to rest by the side of a little sister. The funeral services took place from the Christian Church of Burrton. Mr. and Mrs. Day and family have the sympathy of the entire community.
Farewell dear Tina,
Farewell little one,
God called you home;
His will be done.
Though fondly we love you,
And cherish you still
We bow in submission,
To Omnipotence Will.
Farewell then little loved one,
Once more we say farewell;
Till we meet beyond the river
Where the shining angels dwell.
Till we clasp your hands with gladness,
And at Jesus feet we bow,
Till He wipe all tears of sadness
Forever from our brow.
