McCLOUD, BILL M.
Bill M. McCloud, 78, of Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 28, at his residence. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, at Newton Bible Church, with Pastor Don Myer officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sept. 30, at Whitewater Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 20, 1922, to Sydney McCloud and Mary Elizabeth Horton in Neosho, Mo. On Nov. 2, 1945, he was married to Esther Hummel in St. Louis.
He was a retired Newton City Police Officer, serving from 1949 to 1972 and served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Newton Bible Church, the Kansas Peace Officers Association and a charter member of the Newton High School Hall of Fame.
Survivors include: his wife of the home; daughters, Jan McCloud and Nancy Parson of Newton; a brother, Leason "Pete" McCloud of Marion; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchiildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bob McCloud, Elmer McCloud, Fred McCloud, Harry McCloud, Leslie McCloud and Wesley McCloud.
Memorials may be made to Newton Bible Church Building Fund and the Newton High School Hall of Fame in care of Peterson Funeral Home, who has the arrangements. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 30, at Peterson Funeral Home in Newton.
